Sachin Gopalan is the Co-Founder of Indonesia Economic Forum, an economic intelligence service based in Jakarta Indonesia. He started his career in the Media and Information industry in 1994 when he joined as National Marketing Manager of Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy Pvt Ltd (CMIE), India’s premiere business intelligence company. Subsequently he moved to Indonesia in 1997 to join as Marketing Director of CastleAsia, Indonesia’s leading business information company. In 1999, along with James Castle he co-founded Kemana.Com, an information portal company that merged in 2001 with PT Jaring Data Interaktif, a cable/sat TV company founded by media tycoon Peter F Gontha that specialized in news, business and politics. Here as CEO, he developed several cable/sat and digital media brands such as QTV, Swara Channel and Home Channel.
In 2010, this media company was acquired by the Lippo Group and Sachin was appointed as the CEO of a newly re-grouped media organization called BeritaSatu Media Holdings with a media portfolio that included Television and Radio channels, Newspapers, Magazines, News portals, Mobile Apps and Social Media products. In BMH Sachin built Indonesia’s first multimedia integrated newsroom that is multi-cycle, multi-platform, multi-language and multi-brand. BMH is widely recognized in the Industry for its product innovation that won several international and local awards.
Sachin is also Founder of Chairos International Ventures (CIV), a digital media and content consultancy focusing on startups and venture incubation. He is the co-founder of several startups such as Orbit Ventura - a science & technology empowerment company, InAvi - an in-store digital audio visual company, Electric Ocean - an entertainment company and Mad About Comedy – a digital marketplace for stand-up comedy.
Sachin has over the years supported education, music and sports activities and initiated an internationally recognized cricket development program that won the ICC Global Award for the Best Junior Cricket Initiative, two years in a row. He is on the Board of Patrons of the national cricket body, Persatuan Cricket Indonesia where he also served for two years as the Head of the National Selection Committee. Sachin is a University Gold Medalist in Bachelor of Engineering – Production, graduating in 1990 from the College of Engineering, Anna University, Chennai, India, one of India's leading engineering institutions.
